Plots(1)

This real-life story stars Robin Williams as Patch Adams, a truly unorthodox doctor who clashes with his superiors over the best way to treat patients. For Doctor Adams, the happiness of his patients is paramount and he will go to almost any extreme to keep them laughing. However, this is not always easy as the authorities take an increasingly dim view of his actions. (Universal Pictures UK)

English Sometimes deeply moving and at others too brutally manipulative. The lighthearted mood suited me fully until about two-thirds of the way through, and even though I knew that if it had kept it up until the end, Patch Adams wouldn't have had a memorable conclusion to rely on, I still would have liked that more than the painful and unexpected twist. Because of it, I probably wouldn't watch this movie again. If you want to cry like I did, you can't miss it. ()

English Even though it's quite sentimental at times, I just enjoyed this. Robin Williams demonstrates that he can beautifully blend the comedic and dramatic aspects, and in his case, it simply works perfectly. Yes, at times it’s overly sentimental, sometimes unnecessarily unbelievable, but also a beautiful story about a man who just wanted to help. ()
