When the U.S. cavalry learns that Apache leader Ulzana has left his reservation with some followers, Lieutenant DeBuin is assigned the task of bringing him back. The young DeBuin feels compassion for Ulzana when he and his small company set out, accompanied by an experienced scout named McIntosh. But as they encounter the victims of Ulzana's attacks across the country, DeBuin realizes how naive he has been and learns from the older, wiser McIntosh. (official distributor synopsis)
