Vengeful bounty hunter Ben Brigade (Randolph Scott) captures the notorious, psychotic outlaw Billy (James Best), to trap the gunman’s equally deranged brother Frank (Lee Van Cleef), the man who murdered Brigade’s wife. In the western Ride Lonesome, it's evident that the Wayne-esque characters weren't as compelling, and there was a need to introduce something more intriguing to the genre. This western features pleasantly gritty and sweaty men, along with one beautiful woman, making it work excellently on that basis alone. But then there is also the story, which is interesting, and there are some surprises at the end.
