Chadwick “Chad” Gates (Elvis Presley) is coming home to Hawaii. Though his mother (Angela Lansbury) expects him to take over the family business, Chad would rather wear an aloha shirt than a white collar. When he goes to work as a tour guide at his girlfriend’s agency, it isn’t long before a group of amorous gals fights for his attention. (Paramount Home Entertainment)

One of the three Elvis movies from Hawaii: Blue Hawaii was followed by the films Girls! Girls! Girls! and Paradise, Hawaiian Style. At the time, it was a very successful affair, and there were no problems, even though his mother was played by Angela Lansbury, who was only 10 years older. Surprisingly, even the screenplay, which actually did not exist and looked like a fictional sequel to G. I. Blues, was nominated for the Writers Guild of America award in the category of Best Written American Musical. ()
