This tense and hugely entertaining heist thriller is a Hammer take on A Christmas Carol, which pits miserly and fastidious bank manager (Peter Cushing in sparkling form) against debonair robber André Morell, as a plot to rob a bank on Christmas Eve unfolds in almost real time. This ingenious suspenser is regarded by many as one of Hammer's best films. (Powerhouse Films)

Peter Cushing in this film demonstrates how great an actor he was. From the domineering branch manager at the bank, he transforms into a shaking man thrown into a role he definitely wouldn't want. Together with André Morell, they deliver an excellent performance that is well executed until the end. Hammer Studio has hidden treasures in its history. ()
