A crazy affair that doesn’t have much in common with the book. That wouldn’t be a problem if it wasn’t so bad. The singing Wilder will haunt my nightmares for years to come, and otherwise I like him a lot. I hope Burton will do a better job.

Yes, I am very influenced by Burton's approach, and with him, I just felt that he understood Dahl's original and translated it truly as it was, adding something extra. There's too much going on here, and visually it's just not that beautiful. Maybe if I'd seen it sooner, I don't know... It's evident that the technical side was lacking a lot here.
