The sequel to Clive Barker's original 1993 shocker, this 1995 follow-up brings the ever-threatening Tony Todd, and his hook-handed bogeyman, back to the big screen but this time in New Orleans. As before, our antagonist is a mix of nightmarish skin-slicer and seductive-voiced stalker - but one thing is for sure: not many characters will be leaving this sanguine-splashed sequel with their insides still intact! English As the title suggests, we embark on a journey into vegetarianism, specifically bee products, or Sweets to the Sweet. Mirrors serve as canvases intended to either frighten or deceive the audience into thinking nothing will happen, while Glass continues his unsettling path. Occasionally, there are amusing attempts at gratuitous scares, and Tony Todd appears as Captain Hook with a subcutaneous hive and ominously milky eyes. True, New Orleans during Mardi Gras isn't the spray-painted concrete of Chicago's Cabrini-Green, but as a setting for the Honeyman's new stage, it fulfills its purpose. I don’t want to be nitpicky, but what kind of elbow flexibility must Candyman have to get the hook at that angle, as seen through the bodies of those who gave bravado speeches in front of the mirror?
