Dominic Purcell plays Eirick, a re-animated former Viking king tasked with stopping the ancient Norse god Thor (Conan Stevens), who has returned to Earth in human form with the intent of opening a gateway between heaven and hell. But in order for Thor to succeed, he'll have to gather a set of lost relics before the coming 'blood eclipse', an event which only happens once every 800 years. With Eirick recruiting an army fit for battle, Thor prepares for war. (Universal Pictures UK)

Three fundamental elements are the basis for its lack of success. The first is Dominic Purcell. Let's face it, he's not a master actor, and you could count the good films he's been in on one finger. The second is the Viking theme in an American-Malaysian co-production. Because Americans and Malaysians are certainly knowledgeable about Norse stories and legends... And finally, the cheap production. Nothing good could come of it and it didn't. The special effects here are handled like garbage, both the practical and digital. They just pile up in a heap without any order. You can't even talk about there being any acting in it. Thor does have great red hair, but there are also plenty of awkward dialogues in this film.
