The Skull certainly has its flaws and loses pace towards the end, but it's still a beautifully Gothic horror revolving around one skull. At first glance, it’s utterly ordinary, but it proves that a great atmosphere of mystery can be built around such a banal yet still terrifying object. Peter Cushing is absolutely breathtaking here. ()
