  • USA Battle of the Year: The Dream Team
Trailer 1

Plots(1)

Though America initially set up the 'Battle of the Year' competition, where the best b-boying (or breakdancing) performers from a number of countries square off, a team from the US hasn't taken the trophy home for 15 years. This greatly concerns L.A. rap mogul Dante (Laz Alonso) who attempts to convince his friend Blake (Josh Holloway), a top basketball coach who has fallen on hard times, to take charge of this year's team. Though Blake is initially sceptical, he quickly realises that his ability to build team spirit may be the missing ingredient. Can his team, which includes Rooster (Chris Brown), prevail in this year's competition? (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment)

English When at the beginning of a dance film you hear that Americans don't have a good enough team to compete with other nations, it's pretty clear that by the end of the film, they will have that team. They actually have it to begin with, but it needs to be awakened within these people. And so a basketball coach is hired, who has enough of his own problems, turns all those rebels into well-behaved boys, and they can go play in the championships or something like that. Well, why bother with something more complicated when it's mainly about relationships - relationships that are incredibly silly, boring, and predictable? Acting-wise, it's nothing special; Josh Holloway is here mostly because he's somewhat famous and has a good-looking face. It's a waste of time, and the saddest part is that even from the perspective of dancing, there's very little of it here. Even the ending can't save it. ()
