Jean-Pierre Jeunet directs this hyperreal adventure drama. Gifted 10-year-old cartographer and amateur scientist T.S. Spivet (Kyle Catlett) lives on a ranch in Montana with his emotionally detached cowboy father (Callum Keith Rennie), his beetle-obsessed mother Dr. Clair (Helena Bonham Carter) and fame-hungry older sister Gracie (Niamh Wilson). When T.S. receives notification that one of his inventions, the perpetual motion machine, was a success and has been awarded the prestigious Baird Prize from the Smithsonian museum in Washington, D.C., he sets off alone to attend the reception.
