Plots(1)

20 years ago, the Men in Black erased the memories of a young couple who were witnesses to alien activity. They didn't, however, erase the memory of their child who, two decades on, has found the MiB headquarters and is demanding a job. After an interview with Agent O (Emma Thompson), the newly-appointed Agent M (Tessa Thompson) is given a tutor in the form of Agent H (Chris Hemsworth) who is tasked with showing M the ropes of MiB. When a series of alien attacks are reported in London, M and H are sent on a mission to save the world. (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment)

English A weird pastiche with nice visuals, but unfortunately the directing is uninventive. It’s strange that there is no chemistry at all between the central actor duo, while their chemistry together in the last Thor movie was so great. A weak screenplay. Try an R-rated restart in a couple of years’ time. ()

English Young agent M and British veteran H must join forces to stop a threat that wants to destroy the entire planet. And so they travel between London, New York, Africa and Paris. And it’s boring. The new Men in Black lacks wit, ideas, a clever story and interesting protagonists. And they have nothing to offer either fans of the franchise or casual fans of great sci-fi comedies. A useless film. ()

English I’m unable understand how it's possible for the director of Law Abiding Citizen, Straight Outta Compton and Fast and Furious 8 can make such a sterile and uninteresting borefest. The film doesn't offer interesting visuals or action, the acting is alright, but Chris Hemsworth overacts quite a bit and the humor works rather infrequently. I really don't know what went wrong, but Men in Black: International comes across as second or third rate compared to what normally goes to the cinemas. 40%. ()

English This time, Thor and Valkyrie face a threat no less dangerous than in Ragnarok, and they have to deal with the fact that they don't know whom they can trust. The latest Men/Women in Black may look nice, but there's no real twist in those two hours and you don’t get proper action or humour, either. The film flies by, as do its protagonists, but you mostly care how they actually end up, the whole thing lacks any major potential and drive. Even Emma Thompson's tiny role as the amazing Emma Thompson doesn't help. Too bad! ()

English A disposable blockbuster you'll quickly forget. Chris Hemsworth carries the film, playing his usual charming role, which I still enjoy, but I can imagine it being painful for those who can't stand him. While it is essentially an unnecessary movie with a simple plot, it doesn’t fall into the category of annoying messes. Thanks to decent visuals, the chemistry between the leads, and a diverse alien-filled world, it’s quite watchable. It earns a weak 3 stars and is on par with Men in Black II in terms of quality. BTW: It's a shame the studio didn't have the guts to pursue a more daring and potentially memorable idea like an MiB crossover with Jump Street. That would have had a better chance of leaving a lasting impression than this safe, middle-of-the-road spin-off. ()
