Eloy de Palma is an exorcist pastor roaming the darkest corners of the country with his granddaughter Alba. Their mission is to help those possessed by The Evil One, an infection of the soul that is spreading fast, especially among the most vulnerable members of society: children, mental patients, and drug addicts. There is also a mysterious cult following them, making it more difficult to help those in need. Each exorcism is tougher than the one before, and every battle with Evil reveals a piece of young Alba's forgotten past - an enigma that if unconcealed could change the world as we know it. English Very disappointing. I was very much looking forward to Asmodexia. It was a tempting destination, exorcism is my thing and the trailer was a reliable lure, but it all looked so bland, cheap and uninteresting to me. There were no scares, only a couple of impressive atmospheric scenes that could fit into ten minutes, the story seemed incoherent and uninterestingly told that I even got lost in places. All this underlined by a slower pace. I don't know if I didn't have the right attitude and too high expectations, but it missed me. 5/10 ()

English So, again without “horror elements”… yeah, right. It’s full of horror elements. But in today’s glut of uninteresting and generic movies about exorcism that look like carbon copies, I think this Spanish take on this tired topic is surprisingly refreshing. The climax, where the cards are put on the table, takes it up a few notches without the need of any action horror apocalyptic hell. Even though at first I was bored expecting it would another of the thousand variations of The Exorcist, the film gradually grabbed my attention and it pleasantly surprised me in the end. It’s more ambitions than you would expect. 7/10 ()
