Disney animated adventure set in ancient Oceania. When a fiery ocean demon threatens her peaceful island home, teenage Princess Moana (voice of Auli'i Cravalho) vows to fulfil her heroic destiny and save her people. Putting her navigation skills to the test, Moana sets out on a daring sea voyage to find the once-mighty demi-God Maui (Dwayne Johnson), the legendary creator of the Pacific Islands and the only one who can help her with her quest. Together, they traverse the treacherous open waters, encountering difficult conditions and dangerous creatures along the way, as Moana searches for the mythical island which holds the key to completing her mission. A fine animated film with great visuals and a fun adventure for the kids. At first it even seemed very funny and didn't spare the humour (the rooster in particular was awesome!), but as time went on the humour diminished and the film focused more on the storyline, which lost me a bit as an adult viewer, but as a whole it's still a very good fairy tale that is worth watching and has heart in certain passages.

I have watched Walt Disney’s Pacific Moana right after Pixar’s Coco. I don’t want to create an impression that Moana was way worse by this review, but Coco’s story, surroundings and songs were simply closer to my heart. In my opinion it’s not exactly that kind of the fairytale which an adult could watch without falling into an intellectual coma. However, the best part of the story was the character of that idiotic little cock.

Moana is a refreshing film that takes you to warm landscapes brimming with colour, diverse characters and a sweet story about the search for truth and self during the winter months. Once again, Disney has not disappointed and offers a quality film that is funny, serious, dynamic and full of unforgettable songs that you are happy to play after the screening. Plus point for the unexpected ending.

The 55th feature-length Disney Polynesian Odyssey with a female protagonist? This is obviously a very good idea for a Disney movie. I didn't really believe it at first, but those classic attributes need to be updated all the time and if this trend has been going on since Ariel, there's no reason Moana/Vaiana shouldn't work. She too is a teenager without fear or reproach, she too has a pair of favorite animal friends, and she too is braver than many of the adults around her. She is agile, has a pure heart, and the most beautiful eyes. And, of course, she loves her grandmother. This makes her a good role model for little kids. As a result, it's another film that has a chance to be domesticated.

The beautiful turquoise blue and Hawaiian atmosphere make Moana one of the most beautiful new Disney movies. The story has usual plot twists enriched by the legends of the island states. And mainly there is Maui with the face, voice and muscles of Dwayne Johnson. A self-obsessed demigod who charmed even my little daughter. You're welcome!
