The Night Manager (2016)

English I only started watching this series because Hugh Laurie was in it. Otherwise, I had no idea what I was getting into. I was entertained from the start by this spy game full of intrigue and understandable paranoia, although I found some moments quite naive and was massively disappointed by the ending. I expected it to be more realistic and less fairy-tale-like. Overall, I was satisfied anyway, I liked how the creators managed to gradually escalate the tension. ()

Episode 1 (2016) (S01E01)

English The first episode grabbed my attention right away, proving that a story can be compelling without nonstop action. Hugh Laurie shines as the main antagonist, and having first seen him in Blackadder, he’s never disappointed me since. ()

Episode 2 (2016) (S01E02)

English The plot is unfolding nicely, with both the villain and hero taking center stage. Olivia Colman, whom I loved in Broadchurch, also delivers a standout performance that deserves recognition. ()

Episode 4 (2016) (S01E04)

English The show keeps getting better with each episode. The tension is ramping up, the good guys have infiltrated the bad guys, only to find out the bad guys infiltrated them first. It's the perfect kind of chaos, full of scheming and mistrust. Just the way I like it. ()

Episode 5 (2016) (S01E05)

English The tension in this penultimate episode is at its peak. The gloves are off, and all the cards are being laid out. The atmosphere is fantastic, and I’m eager to see if the finale can keep up this level of quality. So far, the show has only gotten better. ()
