Plots(1)

From the new bachelor Prime Minister (Hugh Grant) instantly falling in love with a refreshingly real member of the staff (Martine McCutcheon) moments after entering 10 Downing Street... To a writer (Colin Firth) escaping to the south of France to nurse his re-broken heart who finds love in a lake... From a comfortably married woman (Emma Thompson) suspecting that her husband (Alan Rickman) is slipping away... To a new bride (Keira Knightley) mistaking the distance of her husband's best friend for something it's not... From a schoolboy seeking to win the attention of the most unattainable girl in school... To a widowed stepfather (Liam Neeson) trying to connect with a son he suddenly barely knows... From a lovelorn junior manager (Laura Linney) seizing a chance with her long-tended, unspoken office crush... To an ageing "seen it all, remember very little of it" rock star (Bill Nighy) jonesing for an end-of-career comeback in his own uncompromising way... Love, the equal-opportunity mischief-maker, is causing chaos for all. These London lives and loves collide, mingle and climax on Christmas Eve-again and again and again-with romantic, hilarious and bittersweet consequences for anyone lucky (or unlucky) enough to be under love's spell. English Those of you who would ever pay your weight in gold for just a pinch of a good mood, I invite you all to pre-Christmas London. I have seen this so many times and I can recite the lines by heart, and still Richard Curtis manages to carry me away, never to return. In Love Actually, there is everything, and so naturally there might be something that might not appeal to you. However, there is also so much amazingness in it that when I add up the bashful Hugh Grant and Colin Firth, the triumphant Bill Nighy, the unforgettable Keira Knightley, the discreet angel Rowan Atkinson, or the few seconds of a magical cameo by Elisha Cuthbert, there is too much perfection in one movie. The best romantic comedy and one of my top 10. ()

English An icon of the romantic comedy genre, set in beautiful England at one of the most wonderful times of the year, Christmas. An absolutely superb all-star cast (I won't name names because I would leave someone out), a well-done interweaving of the various stories, and an amazing soundtrack. When you watch this movie, it's like eating the most delicious dessert ever. ()

English A Christmas movie gift in which everyone who has ever been in love at least once will find something for themselves, whether they’re 17 or 40, black or white, good looking or not so good looking. Four stars for the fact that I didn’t completely identify with absolutely all of the characters (which is natural) and a secret 20 stars for the one segment that left me petrified and speechless. And also for the overall good-heartedness and love that everyone involved put into making this film. ()

English A British comedy with a fantastic cast and great humor. Since it’s a Christmas movie, it has a hefty dose of romance, but that’s not a bad thing at all. Overall, the film works wonderfully. The only parts I didn’t enjoy were the scenes with Liam Neeson, which tugged a little too much at the heartstrings. On the flip side, the characters played by Martin Freeman and Bill Nighy were excellent. "Don't buy drugs. Become a pop star and they give you them for free!" ()

English In every genre category, I have a film that comes close to or equals the ideal - simply a perfect movie. Among romantic comedies, this spot is taken by Love Actually, and it's worth noting that it won with ease. Sure, a nitpicker could argue that the screenwriter didn't concern themselves too much with logic - but since when is love logical? Top-notch casting, plenty of funny moments, and an amazingly positive atmosphere. The perfect film for a romantic evening for two. Overall impression: 100%. ()
