When he discovers a woman being strangled at a roadside truck stop, trucker Joe (Nicolas Cage) intervenes and saves her but learns she was using her near-death experience to contact the spirit of her comatose teenage daughter Billie (Penelope Mitchell). Empathising with her struggle, Joe helps Julie (Franka Potente) recover her daughter's lost soul. However, when Billie wakes up they quickly discover she's not her old self. (Thunderbird Releasing)

Between Worlds feels totally interchangeable with any (below) average episode from a television horror series from the 1990s, both technically and in terms of the story. In fact, from the beginning, you wonder if the movie is so terrible and outdated on purpose, or if it is some kind of subversive ironic joke. I am convinced that it is the former, and the movie is simply terrible, fortunately, Nicolas Cage saves the day with his frenzied deranged performance and hilarious one liners, which makes what would have otherwise been an atrociously boring movie an unforgettable affair that can actually be enjoyed.
