Aboard a cargo freighter, hunter Frank Walsh (Nicolas Cage) is returning home from a successful trip to the Amazon rainforest with a prized white jaguar, now available to the highest bidder. However, assassin Richard Loffler (Kevin Durand) is also aboard the freighter as he is being extradited to the United States for crimes against humanity. When the mercenary escapes and sets all of the ship's animals free, it's up to Walsh to hunt him down. (Lionsgate Home Entertainment)

Nicolas Cage’s performance in this movie as a mega-cool desperado hunting wildlife left me feeling completely cold this time, because, in Primal, his acting is far from his usual deranged performances which we all like him for. In this respect, he was outdone by the manic Kevin Durand. However, looking at the unconvincing CGI here, I sighed at the times when more capable moviemakers made action thrillers without the need for green screens and digital effects, and, managed to create a movie like this on smaller budgets. Also, well, Famke Janssen's botox-filled motionless face was an even more sad thing than the desperately digitized visuals.
