Between 1956 and 1960, director Budd Boetticher, and star Randolph Scott made a series of remarkable, slyly subversive, studio-produced westerns that brought a new spark to the genre and became known as the 'Ranown Cycle'. In The Tall T, co-starring Richard Boone, Maureen O'Sullivan and Henry Silva, Scott is a rancher kidnapped along with an heiress, and held for ransom by three murderous outlaws. A ruthlessly efficient western thriller, The Tall T established the success of the Scott/Boetticher team. (Powerhouse Films)

English When you lose a bet where you've staked your horse, you probably don't even realize what it could mean for you. A story about how one honorable man finds himself in a situation where he must save not only himself but also a woman. He's up against three ruffians, and he doesn't have much to defend himself against them. A western brilliantly crafted as an intimate drama. Moreover, everything is depicted in beautiful colors. A fairly gritty film, rougher than most classic westerns, like those with John Wayne. It's not driven by violence, but rather by the couple's hopeless situation. ()
