Based on Nick Hornby's best-selling autobiography, Fever Pitch is set during the 1988/89 football season. Paul Ashworth (Colin Firth), an English teacher in his thirties, is passionate about Arsenal. As the season and the film progress, the club has a chance of sinning the league for the first time in 18 years. Meanwhile, his on-off romance with fellow teacher and non-football fan, Sarah, mirrors the Gunners' fluctuating season. The romance is dealt a near fatal blow by a home defeat against Derby. Arsenal, Paul and Sarah have one more chance - but it's a long shot. Horby's romantic comedy received considerable critical acclaim and appeals equally to men, women, football fans and the football-perplxed. (Spirit Entertainment)
